Don’t expect me to give an unbiased account – I use to own a BMW, V12 850 CSI – and I loved her.
The 8 series was discontinued in the nineties so this relaunch does come with substantial ado and reverence. It was the engine that only Mclaren knew how to fully exploit – the engine that became the heart of the fastest production car of the nineties; the Mclaren F1.
Frankly! I think it’s the best looking car BMW ever did and this time it looks as if they are moving to get it just right – that they solve the inherent diseases that came with a model that originally was too little and too much. Judging by the fact that BMW has decided what the original didn’t dare – a fully fledged M8. An uncompromising attempt to enter the class of the luxury coupe. Just look at the bitch – a German Ferrari/Aston Martin hybrid – it’s gorgeous.
